
Leeuwarden - 24/09/2008 - Mayor Crone has placed the first of 4.5 million dominoes, kicking off Domino Day 2008 in an attempt to break the world record domino toppling. The all-evening spectacular live show will be broadcasted in Germany, Austria, The Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary, Great Britain, Slovakia, Poland and Russia.
The next few weeks more than 85 builders from 14 different countries will set up the other 4.499.999 dominoes. The builders from 13 different countries have been selected to contribute to the event, which has officially been categorized as top sport.
‘Celebrating ten years of Domino day - Breaking more World Records than ever-‘
is the central theme of this year's spectacular edition. Domino Day 2008 will be a nerve breaking record challenge in every aspect. It will be the tenth time to attempt the world record domino toppling. In 2007 more than 90 million viewers all over Europe watched the attempt which unfortunately failed. The team is now extra motivated to set a new record.
